Effectively 10 power for 5 mana is a great deal with nothing else, particularly split over 2 bodies, and Drizzt will tear up Limited tables nicely. Drizzt Do’Urden is one of the characters who has achieved fame and fandom in the years since, so it makes sense that he shows up here.ĭrizzt himself is actually pretty powerful if you can support him his body starts fairly small, but he has limitless growth if you can slay creatures (or if others die), and he brings a feline friend who can smash through boards easily. The Forgotten Realms beckon, bringing fan-favorite characters from Dungeons & Dragons and dungeon-crawling activity to the card game in the replacement for the core set. Without giving too much away for the rest of this week, it looks like not all of Drizzt’s famous friends got cards in the set this time around – surely they’re not already hinting at a sequel?. While there’s a high-ish proportion of white removal that exiles and thus doesn’t help with him, you also have green’s fight and bite effects to buff him, and of course if he’s in your deck there’s a pretty high chance that your deck’s good at combat and things will be dying regardless. And Drizzt’s card is a pretty good one at that – double strike lets him take down creatures much more superficially efficient than him, Guenhwyvar means that Doom Blade Guy can’t just write off the long-awaited crossover, and his ability to gain counters when something dies makes your opponent recalculate what they target and when (not to mention the way you’ll profit from opponents targeting each other in multiplayer). Drizzt has a Magic card now, and so too does much of Dungeons and Dragons‘ most well-known setting.
